Laoag City set to hire more personnel in 2023: DepEd

CIDG cops nab bogus dentist in Laguna

MANILA: Police arrested a man engaged in the practice of dentistry without a license in Laguna.   Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) chief Brig. Gen. Ronald Lee said the suspect, Rodelo Donato, was apprehended at his residence in Barangay San Agustin, Alaminos, Laguna on Monday.   The operation stemmed from an informant’s tip that Donato has no certificate of registration or professional identification card.   Acting on the information, Lee said CIDG operatives and other police units conducted an entrapment operation and arrested the suspect who was caught in the act while practicing dental technology.   Upon arrest, Donato

CDO turns over P11-M rescue vehicles to far-flung villages

Courts closed for holidays

MANILA: The Supreme Court (SC) has announced the suspension of work in all courts nationwide at noon of Dec. 29, with court operations to resume next year, January 3.   In Memorandum Order No. 181-2002, the SC, through Acting Chief Justice Marvic Leonen, said the suspension is ”in light of the upcoming consecutive holidays and to allow court personnel, parties and litigants the opportunity to attend to personal engagements and make the appropriate travel arrangements.”   The tribunal however said the suspension of afternoon work on Dec. 29 will not apply to court personnel who need to process bails, orders

Yearender: BOC seizes P24-B illegal shipments in 2022

MANILA: Aside from posting a surplus in its revenues for the year, the Bureau of Customs (BOC) has seized illegal drugs and smuggled goods including agricultural products valued at PHP23.582 billion from Jan. 1 to Dec. 22, 2022.   An estimated value of PHP1.226 billion agricultural products were apprehended since January 2022.   The BOC also recorded 107 drug bust operations this year, resulting in the seizure of more than PHP11.953 billion worth of illegal drugs.   As a result, some 33 individuals were arrested and turned over to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) to date.   Additional revenues
