53% of German firms in PH in ‘better situation’: survey

A steady increase in the number of German firms here, saying they are in a “better situation” is seen in the latest Fall 2022 AHK World Business Outlook (WBO) Survey of the German-Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GPCCI).   The Fall 2022 survey held last month with 68 respondents involved in German-Philippine business relations showed that 53 of the companies considered that their businesses are in a better situation.   This is higher than the 47 percent in the Spring 2022, 32 percent in the Fall 2021 and 19 percent in the Fall 2020 surveys.   The number of

Poland confirms missiles that killed 2 Poles were Russian

Poland’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said early Wednesday the missiles which fell on a village in the country’s east, killing two people, were Russian made.   Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau summoned the Russian ambassador to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with a demand to provide a detailed immediate explanation.   A US intelligence official earlier said the missiles were Russian, according to the Associated Press.   Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy accused Russia of deliberately attacking Poland.   “This is a Russian missile attack on collective security,” he said. “This is a very significant escalation. France medical labs on strike for 3 days over austerity rate cuts

Grab’s 2% commission hike ‘unreasonable’: Poe

Soldier killed, 4 wounded in Bacolod resto bar shooting

A Philippine Army soldier was killed while four others were wounded during a shooting in a resto bar at around 1:30 a.m. here on Wednesday.   A report from the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) identified the fatality as Private 1st Class (Pfc) Edmark Iwayan, 26, of Barangay Balintawak, Escalante City while Pfc Joebert Villagracia, 29, of Barangay Inolingan, Moises Padilla, both in Negros Occidental, was injured.   Assigned to the 3rd Infantry Division, the two soldiers have been deployed as part of the augmentation forces for a battalion in Negros Island.   Also injured were Ulysis Carampatana, 41, a
