NEDA hopeful on PH’s economic growth expansion in 2024

The Bureau of Immigration (BI) on Wednesday reported that technical glitches primarily in the connectivity with the overseas employment certificate (OEC) validation system of the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) have been ironed out with the rollout of the latest update of its Border Control Information System (BCIS). Immigration Commissioner Norman Tansingco said the new system which was implemented last Oct. 28 is the centralized database of all travel records of incoming and outgoing passengers. It is a database sharing information that would allow the BI access to the OEC records, lessening paperwork for departing overseas Filipino workers
The Philippine Air Force (PAF) on Wednesday said all of its six Embraer A-29B “Super Tucano” attack aircraft are now fully operational. This came as one of these planes that sustained damage during a “routine maintenance check flight” last year and is now repaired and operational. PAF spokesperson Col. Ma. Consuelo Castillo said the damaged aircraft was made “fully operational” during the third quarter of this year. “All our ‘Tucanos’ are all in good shape and fully operational, thus contributing to our focused military operations,” she said in a message to the Philippine News Agency. The provincial government of Negros Oriental has allocated PHP60 million for the construction of housing units for former members of the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army (CPP-NPA). Senator Sherwin Gatchalian on Wednesday urged his colleagues to increase the Department of Education’s (DepEd) capital outlay from PHP96 million to PHP160 million which will pave the way for better facilities for children with learning disabilities.
