Updated system gives BI easier access to OFW recordsC

The Bureau of Immigration (BI) on Wednesday reported that technical glitches primarily in the connectivity with the overseas employment certificate (OEC) validation system of the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) have been ironed out with the rollout of the latest update of its Border Control Information System (BCIS).   Immigration Commissioner Norman Tansingco said the new system which was implemented last Oct. 28 is the centralized database of all travel records of incoming and outgoing passengers.   It is a database sharing information that would allow the BI access to the OEC records, lessening paperwork for departing overseas Filipino workers

6 ‘Super Tucano’ attack planes now operational: PAF

The Philippine Air Force (PAF) on Wednesday said all of its six Embraer A-29B “Super Tucano” attack aircraft are now fully operational.   This came as one of these planes that sustained damage during a “routine maintenance check flight” last year and is now repaired and operational.   PAF spokesperson Col. Ma. Negros Oriental OKs P60-M fund for ex-rebels’ housing project

PH Army ends DAGIT-PA stint with live-fire drills

Philippine Army (PA) personnel wrapped up their participation in this year’s DAGIT-PA exercises with the successful conclusion of the “combined arms and littoral live-fire exercise” (CALLFEX) and the “urban operations demonstration” at Punta Baja, Rizal, Palawan on Tuesday.   “The CALLFEX and urban operations were performed by the Army troops to test, evaluate, and enhance the command’s effectiveness and interoperability with other major services,” PA spokesperson Col. Gatchalian seeks more funds for SPED
