6.5K affected farmers report P424-M losses due to ‘Agaton’: DA

Tropical Depression (TD) Agaton which has now weakened into a low pressure area (LPA) has caused production losses worth PHP423.8 million for 6,557 farmers in the Visayas and nearby areas, the Department of Agriculture (DA) said on Wednesday. A bulletin released by the DA-Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Operations Center said the losses were incurred particularly in Western and Eastern Visayas, as well as in the Caraga Region following heavy rainfalls. Comelec deploys poll materials for local absentee voting

The Committee on Local Absentee Voting (CLAV) of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) has started the deployment of local absentee ballots and other election paraphernalia. In a statement, the poll body said the delivery of the election materials to government agencies, Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Philippine National Police (PNP), media entities, and corporations has commenced. A total of 84,221 are set to participate in the local absentee voting (LAV) for the 2022 national and local elections later this month. The majority of the voters are members of the police at 48,698, followed by the Philippine Army at 32,786.

BOC clears 243M doses Covid-19 vax, 16K PPE shipments

The Bureau of Customs (BOC) on Wednesday reported it has cleared over 240 million doses of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccines since the onset of the pandemic. In a statement, the Bureau said as of March 2022, it has facilitated the expeditious release of 243 million doses of vaccines from different sources abroad. Army scores ‘biggest’ arms haul vs. NPA in Agusan Sur

Government troops recovered what they described as the biggest cache of high-powered firearms seized from communist rebels in Agusan del Sur this year. In a statement Wednesday, the Eastern Mindanao Command (Eastmincom) said the firearms recovered Monday in Barangay Kasapa 2, La Paz town, include 10 AK47 rifles and seven M16 rifles.
