Mark Magsayo wins WBC featherweight title

Mark Magsayo became the first world champion of the Philippines for 2022 after beating Gary Russell for the WBC featherweight championship on Sunday at the Borgata Hotel Casino in Atlantic City. In his biggest victory so far, Magsayo, a native of Tagbilaran, flashed his brilliance for most part of the bout. The Golden State Warriors beat the Detroit Pistons 102-86 in Wednesday’s NBA game. Golden State started the game by making six of nine 3-pointers to build a 33-22 lead at the end of the first quarter and never let go. Nonito Donaire named PBC Fighter of the Year

Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) has named Filipino pugilist Nonito Donaire as its Fighter of the Year for 2021. Following a fan voting through its social media channels, the 39-year-old Donaire, who shocked the world last May by knocking out Nordine Oubaali to become the oldest reigning world bantamweight champion, edged Stephen Fulton, Gervonta Davis, and David Benavidez for the said honor. PBA Govs Cup resumption on wait-and-see status

The Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) will decide on the resumption of the Governors’ Cup next month. Commissioner Willie Marcial said he would convene the league’s board of governors sometime in February to discuss matters. “Ang crucial, malalaman natin by February kung ano ang patutunguhan ng PBA. PSC awaits lower alert level before resuming training

The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) is now in waiting mode on when the Inter-Agency Task Force on the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) will lower the alert level status in Metro Manila amid a spike in the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases.
