LPA over Pacific likely to enter PAR Dec. 23 or 24

A low pressure area (LPA) over the Pacific may enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) either on the 23rd or 24th of December, the weather bureau confirmed on Monday. It will be closest to the landmass of Mindanao on Saturday night or on December 26, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said in an advisory. PNP Bicol sends aid to Visayas provinces hit by ‘Odette’

The Police Regional Office 5 (PRO5) dispatched on Monday a 58-man team from the Reactionary Standby Support Force (RSSF) to distribute relief goods to Leyte and adjacent provinces battered by Typhoon Odette over the weekend. Jonnel Estomo, PRO5 regional director, said the team of responders were onboard three trucks, a PNP bus, a Hilux patrol, and a van which were loaded with 1,000 food packs, 100 sacks of rice, and PHP10,000 worth of items for children. US pledges 10 million more doses of Pfizer jabs

The Philippines is slated to receive an additional 10.2 million doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 jab from the United States government starting this month up to the first quarter of next year. Various infrastructure in Negros Oriental amounting close to PHP600 million were damaged by Typhoon Odette during its onslaught in the province on December 16.
