Guillermo Eleazar, on Wednesday has ordered the Internal Affairs Service (IAS) to expedite dismissal proceedings against two police officers from Rizal and Quezon City who were arrested in separate operations for involvement in illegal activities. Strong waves destroy seawall in Antique

Strong waves brought about by the southwest monsoon and enhanced by Tropical Storm Maring have destroyed a seawall in the coastal municipality of Sebaste. The waves battered the seawall that finally gave way last night, Poblacion Punong Barangay Gregorio Bendol said in an interview Wednesday. “The seawall is about 100 meters in length and was constructed about five years ago,” he said. Agriculture damage due to ‘Maring’ surpasses P600-M

Damage to agriculture due to Severe Tropical Storm (STS) Maring has so far reached PHP608.50 million, the Department of Agriculture (DA) said on Wednesday. In its latest data, the DA said ‘Maring’ affected 29,063 farmers and fishers, with a volume of production loss at 36,354 metric tons (MT) and damaged 32,882 hectares of agricultural areas in Cordillera Administrative Region, Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Bicol Region, and Western Visayas.
