1.8K Cops Mobilized for Disaster Response in Cordillera

Cordillera: As the southwest monsoon continues to batter the Cordillera region, the Police Regional Office-Cordillera (PRO-CAR) has mobilized more than 1,800 personnel for disaster response and humanitarian aid. PRO-CAR Director Brig. Gen. Ericson Dilag announced the deployment of 1,116 police officers as part of the Reactionary Standby Support Force (RSSF), while 730 officers comprise the Quick Reaction Teams (QRT).

According to Philippines News Agency, other personnel have been deployed to assist in search, rescue, and retrieval missions, provide security at evacuation centers, protect vital infrastructure, and monitor roads across the region. Brig. Gen. Dilag emphasized that these teams are highly trained for crucial operations such as rescue and evacuation, relief assistance, and maintaining peace and order in areas affected by heavy rains, widespread flooding, and landslides.

For nearly three weeks, Cordillera provinces, especially Baguio City and Benguet, have been experiencing heavy rains and winds that have saturated the soil, leading to several landslides and reports of casualties. Dilag stated that they continue to work with local government units, Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices (DRRMO), and government agencies to deliver immediate assistance and ensure the safety of residents.

‘The Philippine National Police remains committed to serving the public, especially during times of natural calamities,’ he added, highlighting that preparedness plays a crucial role in saving lives and reducing damage. Aside from conducting rescues, police teams are also helping carry and distribute relief goods to affected individuals and families. Dilag reminded the public to stay alert, follow official advisories, and cooperate with authorities to ensure everyone’s safety.
