Quezon: A subsidiary of Alternergy Holdings Corporation (ALTER) has been given the go signal to connect the Alabat Wind Power Project in the municipalities of Alabat and Quezon in Quezon province to the Luzon grid.
According to Philippines News Agency, publicly-listed ALTER announced that its unit, Alabat Wind Power Corporation (AWPC), has been authorized to develop and own a dedicated point-to-point transmission facility. This involves the installation of a substation at the wind farm site and a 37-kilometer transmission system from Barangay Villa Norte in Alabat to Barangay Hondagua in Lopez, Quezon.
The transmission line will be connected to the existing 69kV Gumaca-Tagkawayan-Lopez transmission line of the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) in Lopez, Quezon via a switching station. AWPC president Gerry Magbanua highlighted this development as a significant milestone towards completing the Alabat Wind Power Project.
With the approval, AWPC emphasizes its commitment to promoting environmental stewardship through renewable energy development and supporting host communities, while ensuring a reliable and efficient energy supply to the grid.
The wind project in Quezon is one of ALTER’s five projects currently under construction. It forms part of the company’s strategy to achieve a 500-megawatt capacity by 2026.
