Butuan city: At least 50 Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) organizations benefited from the release of a PHP26.1-million seed capital fund during a series of distribution activities from July 16 to 31, the Department of Social Welfare and Development in the Caraga Region (DSWD-13) said Monday.
According to Philippines News Agency, the 50 organizations were from 10 municipalities and two cities in the provinces of Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, and Dinagat Islands, as reported by the DSWD-13. In Agusan del Norte, 13 SLP groups were awarded PHP6.9 million in total capitalization. Meanwhile, 25 SLP clusters in Agusan del Sur received funds totaling PHP11.4 million. Additionally, 12 SLP associations from Cagdianao in Dinagat Islands were granted seed capital amounting to PHP7.2 million.
One of the largest SLP assistance releases during this period was the PHP3-million capitalization provided to five associations in Cabadbaran City, Agusan del Norte. Of these recipient groups, four plan to establish superstores in their localities, while the remaining group will use the funds to create a food hub.
The SLP is designed as a capacity-building program aimed at improving the socio-economic well-being of poor, vulnerable, and marginalized communities. The program’s interventions include access to productive resources, relevant skills training, and seed capital for micro-enterprises.
