Injured Olive Ridley Turtle Found Dead on Surigao Shore

Surigao city: A male Olive Ridley turtle was discovered dead on Wednesday afternoon by locals at the coastal village of Punta Bilar in Surigao City. Personnel from the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) were immediately dispatched to the area for investigation. The turtle was found with wounds on its neck and head. According to Philippines News Agency, the CENRO personnel reported that the turtle appeared emaciated, suggesting it may have been weak before being washed ashore and subsequently dying. The officials also noted the presence of parasites on the turtle’s wounds, indicating it had been in poor health.

BCDA Sees 64% Surge in Investors by End-July

Manila: Approved investments under the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) rose 63.82 percent to PHP53.5 billion on an annual basis by end-July, boosting economic growth contribution. In a statement Thursday, the agency said the approved investments in the first seven months this year are seen to generate about 7,000 new jobs, up 6.2 percent from the same period last year, in BCDA-managed economic zones in New Clark City in Tarlac and Camp John Hay in Baguio City. EDSA Busway Stations Up for Major Improvement

Manila: Seven stations of the Epifanio de los Santos Avenue (EDSA) Busway are set for major improvements this year under the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the Department of Budget and Management’s (DBM) EDSA Busway Station Rehabilitation Project (Rehab). In an interview during an inspection of the EDSA Busway North Avenue Station on Thursday, DOTr Secretary Vince Dizon said the initiative supports President Ferdinand R. P172-M TESDA Innovation Center to Rise in Tacloban

Tacloban: The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) will build a PHP172.14-million innovation center here funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to produce more skilled workers in the Eastern Visayas region. The facility, designed to improve technical-vocational skills development in welding, steel fabrication, and farm mechanization, will be located within the TESDA regional office complex and is expected to be completed by September 2026.
