Lacson urges reinforcements for PH ship in Ayungin Shoal

Senator Panfilo Lacson on Thursday reiterated his position to enhance facilities in Kalayaan Island Group (KIG) in the West Philippine Sea. He said the government should consider refurbishing and sending reinforcements to the BRP Sierra Madre, which serves as the outpost of Philippine Navy troops in the Ayungin Shoal. The number of New People’s Army (NPA) rebels neutralized in Eastern Mindanao has skyrocketed to nearly 2,000 from January 1 to November 24 this year, the Eastern Mindanao Command (Eastmincom) reported Thursday. Refurbishment of over 97K VCMs almost done: Comelec

An official of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Thursday reported that the refurbishment of over 97,000 vote counting machines is almost complete. “We already refurbished 99.6 percent VCMs, that is 96,981. But we do have a number of them quarantined. It means the repairs are ongoing on 334 units or 0.3 percent,” said Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez in a press briefing.
