Intertropical Convergence Zone to Bring Rains Across the Philippines

Abu Dhabi:The Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) is expected to bring rains to much of the Philippines on Thursday, as reported by the state weather bureau.

According to Philippines News Agency, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has forecasted scattered rains and thunderstorms in the Visayas, Mindanao, Bicol Region, Quezon, and Palawan. These areas could experience moderate to heavy rainfall, which may lead to flash floods or landslides.

The Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, and Central Luzon are predicted to have isolated light rains due to the northeasterly windflow, while Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon might encounter isolated rain showers from localized thunderstorms. PAGASA has issued warnings about severe thunderstorms that could trigger flash floods or landslides.

In extreme Northern Luzon, moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas are anticipated. Elsewhere in the country, light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas are expected to prevail.

Additionally, a tropical cyclone has been spotted 2,015 kilometers east of extreme Northern Luzon, outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). PAGASA weather specialist Chenel Dominguez noted that this cyclone is not expected to affect the country or enter the PAR.
