35K indigent students in Central Luzon get aid from DSWD

About 34,925 indigent students in Region 3 (Central Luzon) have received educational assistance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in four separate payout activities.   Based on data from the DSWD-3’s Policy and Plans Division, released on Thursday, the department served 3,911 and 8,969 student-beneficiaries in the first and second payouts, respectively, in the seven provinces of the region – Aurora, Bataan, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Tarlac, and Zambales.   Subsequently, a total of 22,045 received educational aid in the third and fourth payouts on September 3 and 10.   A total of PHP126.9 million was allotted

PSEi up slightly, peso almost unchanged ahead of US economic data

BOC earns P237 million in auction of ‘overstaying’ containers

The Bureau of Customs (BOC) has collected over PHP237 million through the public auction of “overstaying” containers in all ports nationwide during the first eight months of the year.   In a statement Thursday, the bureau reported that from January to August 2022, a total of 318 “overstaying” containers were disposed of by the ports which generated total revenue of PHP237,379,455.   Meanwhile, 519 containers have been condemned while 56 containers were donated to various government agencies.   This is in line with the directive of Commissioner Yogi Filemon Ruiz, to all the ports to expedite the disposition of all
