153 Kalinga villages to benefit from add’l P400-M IRA

The 153 villages in seven municipalities and one component city of Kalinga province will be able to implement more programs and projects with the additional PHP400 million funds under the internal revenue allotment (IRA) resulting from the Supreme Court’s (SC) Mandanas-Garcia ruling. Governor Ferdinand Tubban, during the Network Briefing News on Tuesday, said Kalinga was among the first three provinces in the country to submit its devolution plan for 2022. HEIs in Alert Level 3 areas may start classes Jan. 31

Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Chair J. Prospero de Vera III on Wednesday said higher education institutions (HEIs) in areas under Alert Level 3 may begin holding limited face-to-face (F2F) classes on January 31 depending on Covid-19 situations on the ground. BIR-South Nueva Ecija exceeds 2021 target collection

A Department of Education (DepEd) official on Wednesday said the agency cannot announce a nationwide “academic break” despite the increase in the number of learners and teachers with flu-like symptoms or testing positive for Covid-19. ‘Odette’ victims in NegOr get water relief from utility firm

Typhoon victims in the towns and cities of Negros Oriental have received thousands of liters of water from the Metro Dumaguete Water (MDW) in the aftermath of Typhoon Odette last December 16. World Bank cuts global growth forecast for 2022

The World Bank on Tuesday lowered its global economic growth forecast to 4.1 percent for this year, down 0.2 percentage points from its previous forecast. Next year, the global economy is projected to grow 3.2 percent, revised upward 0.1 percentage point, the bank said in its latest Global Economic Prospects report.
