Pangasinan police arrests 5.3K individuals in drug ops

The Pangasinan Police Provincial Office (PPPO) has arrested some 5,318 individuals in different anti-drug operations from 2016 to July 1 this year. In an interview on Monday, PPPO information officer Maj, Arturo Melchor Jr. said they have conducted over 4,957 anti-drug operations during the period. “We have confiscated 4,885 grams of shabu and 29,727 grams of dried marijuana in the span of the given period,” he said. After Senator Manny Pacquiao included the Department of Energy (DOE) on his list of corrupt government agencies, Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi has answered these corruption allegations of his party-mate. BIR padlocks 207 errant firms, nets P995-M back taxes

The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has shut down the operations of 207 commercial establishments in the first five months of this year for various tax code violations, which resulted in collections of PHP995.04 million in taxes under its Oplan Kandado program. In the month of May alone, the BIR padlocked 36 establishments and collected PHP37.3 million in back taxes from them, according to a report to Secretary Carlos Dominguez III during a recent Department of Finance (DOF) executive committee (Execom) meeting. DFA opens temporary passport centers to ease backlog

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Monday has opened several temporary off-site passport service (TOPS) sites to help address the current backlog and satisfy the country’s increasing demand for passport processing. In a virtual briefing, DFA Undersecretary Brigido Dulay said these TOPS sites are already in operation and are located at SM Mall of Asia, SM City North Edsa, SM Aura, Robinsons Place Las Piñas, and Robinsons Place Magnolia. “Those are the five temporary offsite passport services locations where we will come up with additional slots all the way to September, from Mondays to Saturdays,” Dulay said.
