Manila: The number of transmission lines affected by Super Typhoon Uwan, also known as Fung-wong, has increased to over 20, the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) reported.
According to Philippines News Agency, the NGCP previously reported that 14 lines were out of service. The affected lines are located in Luzon and the Visayas. In Luzon, the lines impacted include Pitogo-Mulanay 69kV serving Quezon I Electric Cooperative (QUEZELCO I), and several others serving various CASURECO and ALECO cooperatives. The Visayas region saw disruptions in lines such as Babatngon-Arado 69kV for LEYECO II and others serving ESAMELCO, SAMELCO I, and NORECO I.
The NGCP also noted the unavailability of two 138kV lines, two 230kV lines, and two 350kV lines, though their specific locations were not disclosed. The organization stated that inspection and restoration efforts will commence in the affected areas once weather conditions improve.
As of 2 p.m., Typhoon Uwan was positioned 100 km northeast of Daet, Camarines Norte. It was moving west-northwest at a speed of 30 kph, with maximum sustained winds reaching 185 km/h and gusts up to 230 km/h.
