Schools and Homes Play Key Role in Disaster Resilience Efforts

Tunis:The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) has emphasized the critical role that both schools and homes play in educating children about preparedness and resilience, aligning with government efforts to enhance disaster resilience across the country.

According to Philippines News Agency, the Philippines is participating in the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction (IDDRR) 2026 on October 13, under the theme "Resilience Starts at Home." The OCD has also introduced a localized theme, "Panatag na Tahanan at Paaralan," to mark the occasion. In collaboration with the Department of Education and the Presidential Communications Office, the OCD launched the "Panatag Pilipinas 3.0" campaign in various schools on October 12.

Skills acquired in schools are not only beneficial within educational settings but can also be shared by students, teachers, and the broader education community with their homes and local communities. This approach helps to further disseminate important resilience lessons.

The OCD highlighted that both the home and school are essential environments where individuals can collectively learn and apply lessons on preparedness.
