Santa ana: The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has rescued six survivors and recovered one body from the fishing boat ‘JOBHENZ’ that capsized in the coastal waters of Barangay San Vicente in Santa Ana, Cagayan on Monday.

According to Philippines News Agency, a situation report on Tuesday confirmed that 13 fisherfolk were on board when the fishing boat sought shelter from the onslaught of Super Typhoon Nando but later capsized. The initial investigation revealed that while anchored, the boat was hit by successive waves and strong winds, leading to its tilting and eventual capsizing.

Coast Guard Station (CGS) Santa Ana responded promptly to the incident, initially rescuing four survivors who were brought to Saint Anthony’s Hospital. Two additional survivors were later found, and one body was recovered. The PCG reported that six fishermen were rescued, one was found dead, and six remain missing.

Ongoing search and rescue efforts are in place for the six missing fishers, with additional teams, including PCG Special Operations Group divers and a medical team, deployed. A high-speed response boat and several rubber boats have been dispatched to aid in the search and rescue operations.
