Manila: Seafarers can now schedule an appointment for services of the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) through the eGovPH mobile app following the agency’s integration with the government portal. MARINA’s integration with eGovPH is in line with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directives to digitalize government services to enhance transparency, efficiency, and public service.
According to Philippines News Agency, in a statement on Thursday, MARINA Administrator Sonia Malaluan said these services include appointments for the Seafarer’s Record Book (SRB) and Seafarer’s Identity Document (SID). Malaluan emphasized that the integration is about empowering seafarers with digital solutions that streamline processes and enhance accessibility.
The integration with the mobile app simplifies application procedures, reduces waiting times, and provides a seamless user experience. Malaluan noted that by embracing digital innovations, the agency not only recognizes the contributions of seafarers to the global economy but also strengthens support for them. She affirmed the agency’s commitment to innovate and elevate services, ensuring Filipino seafarers continue to set the gold standard in maritime excellence worldwide.
The eGovPH mobile app, developed by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), acts as the government’s ‘one-stop-shop’ digital platform, unifying all government services. The app, available for download on Google Play, Apple App Store, and Huawei AppGallery, provides online access to public services such as digital IDs, access to both national and local government services, and online reporting of crimes and other concerns to relevant authorities.
