Easterlies to Cause Scattered Rains and Thunderstorms Across Several Philippine Regions

Manila:The easterlies are expected to bring scattered rains and thunderstorms to various parts of the Philippines on Thursday, as reported by the state weather bureau.

According to Philippines News Agency, the affected areas include the Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, Marinduque, Romblon, Oriental Mindoro, Dinagat Islands, and Surigao del Norte. These regions are likely to experience scattered rain showers and thunderstorms. The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has warned that moderate to heavy rains in these areas could lead to flash floods or landslides.

In addition, the northeast monsoon, known locally as amihan, will bring light rains over Batanes and the Babuyan Islands, while isolated light rains are expected over the Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, and the rest of Cagayan Valley.

Elsewhere in the country, isolated rain showers or thunderstorms are anticipated due to the influence of the easterlies. Overall, light to moderate winds and slight to moderate coastal waters are forecast across the archipelago.

PAGASA also noted that there are no weather disturbances being monitored outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility as of 3 a.m. Thursday.
