Manila: The Department of Justice (DOJ) on Monday paid tribute to persons with disabilities during the flag raising ceremony in observance of the upcoming International Day of Persons with Disabilities on December 3. Gracing the event as guest of honor was National Council on Disability Affairs (NCDA) Executive Director Glenda Relova, who delivered the keynote message.

According to Philippines News Agency, Relova emphasized the significance of this year’s theme, ‘Amplifying the Leadership of Persons with Disabilities for an Inclusive and Sustainable Future,’ as a reminder of the critical role of PWDs in nation building. She urged everyone to continue amplifying the voices of the vulnerable, break down barriers of exclusion, and uphold the values that make justice the foundation of shared humanity.

DOJ Assistant Secretary Randolph Pascasio reaffirmed the department’s support and appreciation for PWDs working within the agency. He highlighted that the DOJ recognizes the significant contributions of the 151 pe
rsons with disabilities who demonstrate dedication and diligence in their work, contributing to the department’s success. Pascasio also noted the DOJ’s compliance with accessibility laws, which was recognized in the recently concluded Disability Compliance Audit on November 25.

Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla called on government workers to continue advocating for equality and inclusivity by supporting and crafting policies that empower disabled persons. He emphasized that the true essence of the rule of law is achieved by giving justice to those who need it most, urging everyone to defend the weak and fight for what is right.
