Manila: The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has extended an invitation to a 20-year-old contestant from a noontime television show after she publicly admitted her lack of knowledge regarding the commission’s mandate and functions.

According to Philippines News Agency, Comelec Chairperson George Garcia announced that “Sexy Babe” contestant Heart Aquino is expected to visit their head office located in Intramuros, Manila. The visit is scheduled for Tuesday, and Aquino will be traveling from Pampanga to meet with the commission.

In a telephone interview on Monday, Garcia mentioned that the purpose of this invitation is to provide Aquino with essential information about the role and responsibilities of the Comelec. He emphasized the need to understand why there is a lack of awareness and expressed that it is a failure on their part that needs immediate rectification.

Garcia remarked that the commission is open to educating others who may also be unaware of its functions. He acknowledged the possibility that many young people or Filipinos might share Aquino’s level of awareness about the Comelec, reaffirming the commission’s duty to inform the public about its work and objectives.

The invitation followed an incident during the February 28 episode of “It’s Showtime,” where Aquino was asked to share her thoughts with the Commission. She responded by saying, “hindi po ako masyadong knowledgeable sa Comelec,” which translates to “I am not too knowledgeable about the Comelec.”
