Manila: The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the Department of Justice (DOJ) have established a partnership aimed at assisting individuals in crisis situations to achieve justice through the newly implemented Client Referral and Psycho-Social Intervention Program.

According to Philippines News Agency, this collaboration aligns with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive for governmental bodies to collaborate on providing comprehensive interventions for those in need, contributing to the vision of a ‘Bagong Pilipinas’ (New Philippines). This vision aims to create a nation where Filipinos are free from poverty and hunger and safeguarded against abuse.

DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian and DOJ Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla formalized the partnership by signing a memorandum of understanding at the DOJ central office in Ermita, Manila. The partnership stipulates that the DOJ will refer clients experiencing crisis situations due to injustices, while the DSWD will offer financial assistance and psycho-social support to aid their recovery process.

Gatchalian expressed gratitude towards the DOJ for acknowledging the importance of addressing the psycho-social needs of individuals in crisis as they seek legal remedies. He highlighted the common challenges faced by the poor and vulnerable in accessing justice and necessary interventions.

The Client Referral and Psycho-Social Intervention Program underscores the significance of justice in fostering a just and progressive society. It is part of a broader government strategy to address the needs of the Filipino people, with particular emphasis on DOJ clients in crisis.

Secretary Gatchalian assured that the program will provide steadfast support to DOJ Action Center clients in crisis, ensuring the DSWD and DOJ are with them throughout their pursuit of justice.
