Iloilo City: Debaters from the University of San Agustin – College of Law (USA-COL) will represent the Philippines at the White and Case International Rounds of the Philip C. Jessup International Moot Court Competition in Washington, D.C.

According to Philippines News Agency, the USA-COL team emerged victorious over 27 other participating schools during the 2025 Divina Law-UST Philippine Jessup Cup held at the University of Santo Tomas in Manila from February 8 to March 2. This victory marks the university’s consecutive win in the competition.

Mayor Jerry Tre±as expressed his pride in an interview, stating that Iloilo’s representation on a global stage highlights the quality of education available in the region. He emphasized that students do not need to move to Manila for top-tier education as Iloilo offers comparable academic opportunities. The mayor also mentioned coordinating with relevant offices to explore possible assistance for the university.

The USA-COL team includes Ancel D’Cunha, Marco Giorgione Dava, Andry Pagsuguiron, Jenny Faith Arce±o, and Lester John Carnaje, all under the guidance of their coach, lawyer Anfred Panes. During the preliminary rounds, team members Marco Giorgione Dava and Ancel D’Cunha were recognized as the 5th and 7th Best Oralists, respectively.

The Jessup competition is widely regarded as the world’s largest and most prestigious moot court competition, according to USA publications.
