LEGAZPI CITY: Nearly a thousand families in Bicol were transferred to safer places over the weekend due to the effect of the shear line, the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) said Tuesday. Gremil Alexis Naz, OCD 5 (Bicol Region) spokesperson, reported that 955 families, consisting of 3,752 individuals from five provinces, are either staying inside evacuation centers or with relatives.

According to Philippines News Agency, 658 families, or 2,329 persons, are occupying 37 evacuation centers in various areas in Bicol. Meanwhile, 297 families, or 1,423 persons, have sought refuge with their relatives. The affected individuals were from Albay, where six families, or 19 persons, were displaced; Camarines Norte with 209 families, or 735 persons; Camarines Sur with 62 families, or 252 persons; Catanduanes with 46 families, or 159 persons; and Sorsogon with 632 families, or 2,587 persons.

Naz stated that the OCD also recorded flooding incidents in 10 local government units, affecting 49 barangays. The adverse weather co
nditions resulted in the destruction of one house and damage to 10 more.
