Antique: The Department of Education (DepEd) Schools Division of Antique has directed the opening of schools to serve as temporary shelters for individuals displaced by the southwest monsoon intensified by Super Typhoon Nando.

According to Philippines News Agency, Dr. Edward Ba±a, Chief of the Curriculum and Teaching Division at DepEd Antique, stated that school heads have been instructed to be ready to accommodate evacuees affected by severe weather conditions. Ba±a mentioned that 608 public and private schools, along with the University of Antique campuses in Tibiao and Sibalom, have suspended face-to-face classes and shifted to alternative delivery modes, including modular classes, to ensure continuous learning despite the disruptions.

In anticipation of the typhoon, advance learning modules have been distributed to students through class group chats. The Antique Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) has advised residents to remain indoors unless necessary, due to the slippery conditions of roads and the potential for landslides caused by soft soil.

Michael Tolentino, the Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer III of Antique, reported that while roads remain passable, caution is advised. Monitoring of major rivers such as Sibalom and Paliwan is ongoing, though water levels have not risen significantly.

On Sunday, the local government unit of Barbaza pre-emptively evacuated five families from the Yapo River area. These families have since been relocated to resettlements in Barangay Yapo. Additionally, government work in Antique is suspended in compliance with Memorandum Order 97 from Malaca±ang.
