Midsayap: Authorities are pursuing two persons of interest in connection with the fatal ambush of a town council candidate in Northern Kabuntalan, Maguindanao del Norte, over the weekend. Lt. Col. Realan Mamon, Midsayap police chief, reported that Jerry Beltran Dofredo, 46, was ambushed around 5 p.m. on Jan. 18 along the borders of Barangays Katinggawan and San Isidro in Midsayap. Manila: The girls’ basketball competition will return to the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) after a five-year absence. The inaugural tournament in 2020 was cut short by the Covid-19 pandemic, with Adamson University and the University of Santo Tomas (UST) sharing the Season 82 title after the cancellation of the winner-take-all Game 3 of the finals. Quezon City: The Philippine National Police – Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) announced on Monday that 15 of the 29 police officers implicated in the alleged mishandling of a PHP6.7-billion drug haul in October 2022 are currently in custody. Nicolas Torre III informed reporters during the 72nd founding anniversary of CIDG at Camp Crame that these officers, comprising both active and retired members, are now under detention.
