CIDG Nabs 11,000 Suspects, Seizes PHP3.3 Billion Worth of Evidence in 2024

Manila: The Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) announced on Monday the arrest of nearly 11,000 wanted individuals and the seizure of over 1,400 unlicensed firearms, alongside PHP3.3 billion worth of evidence, in its anti-crime operations conducted throughout 2024. According to Philippines News Agency, during the CIDG’s 72nd founding anniversary at Camp Crame, CIDG chief Brig. Gen. Nicolas Torre III reported that a total of 13,349 law enforcement operations were carried out last year. These initiatives led to the arrest of 10,797 wanted persons, the seizure of 1,439 loose firearms, and the confiscation of evidence valued at PHP3,361,432,558.24.

Senate Review of Proposed OFBank, LBP Merger Sought

Government Surpasses Revenue Collection Target in 2024

Manila: The government exceeded its revenue collection target last year on the back of higher tax and non-tax revenues, data from Department of Finance (DOF) showed. Preliminary data released by the DOF Monday showed that as of Jan. 16, total revenue collection amounted to PHP4.40 trillion, exceeding the Development Budget Coordination Committee’s PHP4.38 trillion full-year 2024 revenue outlook. Hefty Oil Price Hike of Up to P2.70 Set Jan 21

Manila: The new round of sanctions from the United States and the United Kingdom on Russian oil will be affecting local oil prices, with hefty price hikes set Tuesday. Caltex, Cleanfuel, Petro Gazz, PTT, Seaoil, and Shell will increase gasoline prices by PHP1.65 per liter and diesel prices by PHP2.70 per liter.
