MANILA: The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) continues its crackdown against unauthorized investment schemes as it busted the operations of Silverlion Livestock Trading Corp. in Zamboanga City. In a joint operation on November 26, the combined forces of the SEC Zamboanga Extension Office (ZEO) and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) 9 (Zamboanga Peninsula) successfully implemented a search warrant against Silverlion in its offices at Apolinario Loop, Guiwan and Green Valley National Highway, Barangay Manicahan, both in Zamboanga City. ZAMBOANGA CITY: A Marine officer and a businessman were killed while a driver was wounded in separate shooting incidents in this city, a top police official said Tuesday. The police identified the fatalities as 36-year-old Marine Sgt. Antonieto Doc-Doc, and 60-year-old businessman Benjamin Usman. DAVAO CITY : The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Davao Region (PDEA-11) has destroyed PHP8.1 million worth of illegal drugs seized during their various operations this year. In a statement Tuesday, PDEA-11 spokesperson Noli Dimaandal said the destruction took place at the Wood Haven Crematorium in Tagum City, Davao del Norte on Nov. 26. The burned illegal drugs consisted of 514 grams of shabu with a street value of PHP7.1 million and 7,637 grams of dried marijuana worth over PHP916,000. UNITED NATIONS : UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Monday called for action in three areas to prevent the disaster of biological weapons.
