Elon Musk says Twitter to grant ‘amnesty’ for suspended accounts

MOSCOW: US billionaire entrepreneur and Twitter owner Elon Musk said on Thursday the social media will reinstate blocked accounts next week after a majority of users voted for “amnesty.”   On Wednesday, Musk posted a Twitter poll asking users to vote whether Twitter should “offer a general amnesty to suspended accounts, provided that they have not broken the law or engaged in egregious spam.”   A total of 3.16 million respondents cast their vote, with 72.4% saying that Twitter should reinstate suspended accounts.   “The people have spoken. NPA medic yields, 200 supporters renounce Reds

MANILA: A New People’s Army (NPA) medic in Aurora province has surrendered to authorities while 200 supporters of the communist movement have withdrawn their support from the rebels, the Philippine Army (PA) announced on Thursday night.   In a statement, the PA said the surrenderer, identified as “Ka Balong”, a member of the NPA’s “Komiteng Larangang Guerilla” Sierra Madre Tarlac-Zambales, also turned over an M-16 automatic rifle and an M-14 assault rifle.   He voluntarily turned himself in at the headquarters of the 91st Infantry Battalion in Camp Jaime Bitong Jr., Barangay Calabuanan in Baler, Aurora on November 20.  

PH Army sergeant bags Mt. Everest obstacle races championship

MANILA: A Philippine Army (PA) athlete won the championship in the Altitude Obstacle Course Races World Championships held at the Mount Everest Basecamp in Nepal from November 8 to 22.   In a statement Friday, PA spokesperson Col. Xerxes Trinidad said Staff Sgt. Andrico S. Mahilum won the competition.   “(He) bagged the championship after besting professional obstacle athletes from India, Nepal, United Kingdom, Canada, Greece, Australia, South Africa, USA, Poland, Hungary, Spain, Portugal, and Brazil,” he said.   Mahilum’s teammate, Cpl. 147 Reds surrender in Mimaropa since January

MANILA: A total of 147 members of the Communist Party of the Philippines – New People’s Army (CPP-NPA) surrendered to different police units in Mimaropa from January to November 24 this year, the Police Regional Office (PRO) 4-B (Mimaropa) said Friday.   “We commit to sustaining the success of this campaign towards a communist terrorist group-free Mimaropa,” PRO 4-B chief, Brig. House panels push for expanding use of special education fund

MANILA : Two panels of the House of Representatives have formed a technical working group (TWG) to harmonize several bills that would expand the use of the Special Education Fund (SEF).   During a joint committee hearing on Thursday, the House Committee on Local Government and the Committee on Basic Education and Culture created a joint TWG to consolidate and fine-tune House Bills (HB) 558, 1200, 1286, 1530, 1619, 3018, 3512, 1583, and 5932, all of which seek to amend the Local Government Code of 1991 to expand the purpose and application of the SEF.   Pasig City Rep.
