Ex-NPA rebels receive P4.3-M aid via E-CLIP in Bukidnon

A total of 77 former New People’s Army (NPA) rebels in Bukidnon province have received PHP4.3 million worth of assistance through the government’s Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP).   In a statement issued Saturday, the Philippine Army’s 403rd Infantry Brigade (403rd IBde) said the turnover of assistance, held in Camp Osito D. Bahian, in Malaybalay City, Bukidnon on Friday, was highlighted by the turnover of the former rebels’ firearms and the release of livelihood assistance, immediate assistance, reintegration assistance, and firearm remuneration.   The amount of E-CLIP assistance was coursed through the Department of the Interior and Local Government.

Trapped for 9 days, 2 miners miraculously survived

Two miners trapped for more than nine days in a collapsed zinc mine in southeastern South Korea walked out alive Friday, authorities said, a miraculous ending to rescue efforts that once looked bleak.   The pair had been stuck in a vertical shaft about 190 meters underground at a zinc mine in the county of Bonghwa, 244 kilometers southeast of Seoul, since the mine collapsed on Oct. 26.   Rescue authorities said the two, both surnamed Park and aged 62 and 56, came out at 11:03 p.m. after 221 hours underground. PhilSys registrants in Caraga Region now over 1.9 million

A total of 1,974,876 individuals in the Caraga Region have already registered in the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys).   The registrants represent 80 percent of the region’s total population, the Philippine Statistics Authority in the Caraga Region reported Saturday.   The region has a total of 2,462,064 population based on the 2021 statistics of 5 years old and over.   Among the provinces, Agusan del Sur registered with the highest number of registrants at 554,572 or 86 percent of its population, followed by Agusan del Norte with 553,882 or 83 percent.   A total of 429,666 registrants, or 78 percent,

UN in touch with Twitter over $8 verification fee: Spokesman

The United Nations (UN) said Friday it has contacted Twitter after the company’s new owner Elon Musk announced his plan to charge USD8.00 a month for verified users.   “We will need to evaluate our participation,” said UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric, citing changes including the fee for blue check and the issue of content moderation, which he said, “may impact how we communicate on Twitter”.   “So we’ve asked some questions.
