110 OFWs in Singapore Receive Support from DA to Become Agripreneurs

Manila: Over 100 overseas Filipino workers (OFW) in Singapore recently received support from the Department of Agriculture (DA) in venturing into agriculture entrepreneurship.

According to Philippines News Agency, the DA announced that at least 110 OFWs and Filipino community leaders were introduced to profitable opportunities in both livestock and poultry industries during the “Usapang Agribiz: Forum on Agribusiness Opportunities in Philippine Livestock and Poultry.”

During the forum, which took place at the AIA Alexandra on Sunday, November 9, 2025, the DA discussed current government support mechanisms alongside practical tools, success models, and government programs designed to transform the OFWs’ savings into sustainable agribusiness ventures.

Young “agripreneurs,” such as Young Farmers Challenge (YFC) awardees Leon Vincent Paraguya of Wagling Cattle Enterprise and Kristin Angela Yap of Le Reinvente, also shared their firsthand experiences in establishing their respective businesses during the forum.

The event was part of the ongoing partnership between the DA and the Department of Migrant Workers, under a memorandum of understanding signed on June 4 last year. The Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Service, an entity under the DA and the organizer of the forum, has committed to providing more mentorship, technical guidance, and market linkages to the participating OFWs.

To date, more than 440,000 Filipinos are working in Singapore.
