Zamboanga City to Deploy 1,463 Police Personnel for Undas 2026

Zamboanga City:The Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) will deploy a total of 1,463 personnel throughout the city to ensure public safety and maintain peace during the Undas 2026 observance, an official has announced.

According to Philippines News Agency, Col. Nordave Calderon, the ZCPO officer-in-charge, stated that the deployment will include 958 policemen, 147 personnel from other units, and 358 force multipliers, such as barangay peacekeeping action teams, local government personnel, and traffic enforcers.

The deployment will cover 46 identified sites, including 32 public cemeteries, five private cemeteries, six memorial parks, and three columbaria. Priority security protocols will be enforced in eight major public cemeteries and nine major private cemeteries across the city. Police assistance desks, mobile patrols, inspection checkpoints, and public safety signage will also be established to facilitate traffic management, crowd control, and immediate police assistance.

Col. Calderon has urged the public to adhere to cemetery rules, secure their homes before leaving, refrain from sharing real-time locations online, and observe traffic and safety guidelines during Undas. The security preparations are intended to ensure a safe, orderly, and peaceful observance of All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day on November 1 and 2, respectively.

City Administrator Percival Ramos mentioned that traffic will be rerouted in large cemeteries, particularly those near highways. Mayor Khymer Olaso is expected to issue two orders related to rerouting traffic and prohibiting bladed weapons, alcoholic drinks, sound systems, and flask tumblers in cemeteries.

Meanwhile, the local Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) is coordinating with security agencies, port operators, and shipping firms to enhance safety and security measures for the port city's Undas observance. The security measure, known as 'Oplan Biyaheng Ayos Undas 2026,' will be implemented from October 28 to November 3.
