‘Unsatisfactory’ Performance Leads to Sacking of DPWH Las Pi±as-Muntinlupa Official

Manila: Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Vince Dizon has relieved the maintenance department head of the Las Pi±as-Muntinlupa District Engineering Office for 'unsatisfactory performance.'

According to Philippines News Agency, in a memorandum dated August 29 and made public on Sunday, the DPWH chief ordered the relief of engineer Loreto Balena Jr. effective immediately. The decision was based on repeated reports about Balena's unsatisfactory performance, lack of urgency, and delayed response to calamities, which prompted his removal from the position of Maintenance Chief.

The memorandum further stated that Dizon instructed the relieved official to conduct an inventory and address all pending documents and deliverables. This directive aims to ensure the continuity of public service. Balena has been tasked with completing, signing, and formally turning over all official records, papers, and properties in his custody to the appropriate office.
