Boracay: South Korean actor Seo In-guk explored Boracay by trying out the famed crystal kayak, its sun and beach, and the island’s world-class golf course, marking his first official activity as the Philippine Tourism Ambassador for South Korea.
According to Philippines News Agency, the Department of Tourism (DOT) announced that the South Korean celebrity visited the island from February 21 to 23. During his visit, Seo indulged in local culinary delights and experienced the captivating white sand beaches of Boracay.
Seo engaged in a round of golf at the Fairways and Bluewater Resort Golf and Country Club, enjoyed the sunset aboard a yacht, and met with his Filipino fans during boat tours. As the newly appointed tourism ambassador, Seo aims to increase the Philippines’ visibility as a travel destination through promotional events, social media, and press engagements.
He may also participate in official events organized by the Tourism Promotions Board (TPB) in both the Philippines and South Korea, as stated by the DOT. TPB Chief Operating Officer Maria Margarita Nograles expressed her anticipation for the positive impact of this collaboration on Philippine tourism.
Neocolors Production and Advertising Inc., responsible for Seo’s activities in the country, highlighted his genuine passion for the Philippines as a driving factor for his role as a tourism ambassador. Dr. Christine Daguno-Canoy, president and CEO, emphasized Seo’s heartfelt interest in exploring the Philippines and sharing his experiences with his followers globally.
Seo In-guk began his career as a singer in 2009 after winning the first season of the South Korean reality show Superstar K. His acting debut occurred in 2012 with the hit drama series Reply 1997, and he is also known for lead roles in dramas such as Shopping King Louie and Doom At Your Service.
Tourism Secretary Christina Frasco expressed gratitude to industry partners, including Philippine Airlines, Shangri-La Boracay, Shangri-La The Fort, and Fairways and Bluewater, who facilitated Seo’s visit. Frasco emphasized the DOT’s openness to collaborations with celebrities and influencers who support promoting the Philippines as a top travel destination.
