Antique: The suspension of face-to-face classes in the two municipalities of Antique continues as southwest monsoon, enhanced by the Super Typhoon Nando, brings heavy rains, affecting several areas in the province.

According to Philippines News Agency, Antique Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (PDRRM) officer Broderick Train said in an interview on Tuesday that the local chief executives of Hamtic and Tobias Fornier have decided to suspend face-to-face classes in all levels due to heavy rains still being experienced in their municipalities. Despite Super Typhoon Nando moving outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), it continues to cause isolated heavy rainfall.

Train mentioned that government work in Hamtic and Tobias Fornier has already resumed. Other towns in the province with improved weather conditions have also resumed face-to-face classes and government work.

Train further reported that they have not monitored any displaced families or individuals in Antique. The five families pre-emptively evacuated in Barangay Yapo, Barbaza, on Sept. 21, have already returned to their housing units. In San Remigio, the local government unit (LGU) is repairing road damage in Barangay Sinundulan and has requested assistance from the provincial government.

He emphasized the importance of public vigilance as at 4 p.m., the Tropical Depression east of Northeastern Mindanao entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility and was assigned the domestic name Opong.
