Pangasinan: The Pangasinan Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) has reported PHP105.4 million in partial damage to agriculture and infrastructure as a result of the adverse effects of the weather disturbances “Mirasol,” “Nando,” (international name Ragasa), “Opong” (international name Bualoi), and the enhanced southwest monsoon occurring in September.
According to Philippines News Agency, the PDRRMO’s situational report detailed that infrastructure damage amounted to PHP69.8 million, impacting roads, road dikes, and bridges significantly. The agricultural sector also suffered, with losses mainly from rice crops and some fishponds, totaling PHP34.4 million, and an additional PHP1.29 million in damage to livestock.
The disasters have affected 110,730 families, equivalent to 420,419 individuals, across 324 barangays in 26 municipalities and cities. Of these, 175 barangays experienced flooding incidents; however, all floodwaters have since receded.
In response, the local government has distributed family food packs, hygiene kits from the provincial government, and received support from the Department of Public Works and Highways to aid severely affected communities.
Dagupan City has once again declared a state of calamity due to the recent weather disturbances.
