Manila: President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has declared September 11, 2026, a special non-working day in Ilocos Norte to commemorate the 109th birth anniversary of his late father and former President Ferdinand E. Marcos Sr. Acting Executive Secretary Ralph Recto signed Proclamation No. 1421, under the authority of the President, on Tuesday.
According to Philippines News Agency, the proclamation emphasizes the importance of allowing residents of Ilocos Norte to engage in activities honoring the former president's birth anniversary. The document states, "It is but fitting and proper that the people of the Province of Ilocos Norte be given full opportunity to participate in the occasion and enjoy the celebration."
In addition, President Marcos declared September 10 as a special non-working day in Bais City, Negros Oriental, to celebrate the Hudyaka Festival: Festival of Harvest. This was enacted through Proclamation No. 1420, also signed by Acting Executive Secretary Ralph Recto.
