Senate Concludes Investigation into Alleged Marijuana Use by Staff

Manila: The Senate has concluded its investigation into the alleged use of marijuana by a staff member inside the chamber’s premises. Senate Secretary Renato Bantug Jr. announced the completion of the probe, which was conducted by the Office of the Sergeant-At-Arms (OSAA) on August 13, following media reports about the incident.

According to Philippines News Agency, Senate Secretary Renato Bantug Jr. stated that the OSAA submitted its report on August 14. Senate President Escudero instructed that a copy of this report be provided to the Office of Senator Robinhood C. Padilla for their information and appropriate action. However, the contents of the report and the identity of the staff involved were not disclosed in the statement.

A formal transmittal letter was sent to Senator Robinhood Padilla, who chairs the Senate Committee on Ethics. The details of the report and any subsequent actions remain undisclosed, and it is yet to be seen whether any administrative or legal measures will follow based on the OSAA’s findings.

The Senate has assured that it will continue to enforce strict conduct rules within its premises to maintain decorum and discipline. The completion of the investigation marks a significant step in addressing the allegations and ensuring accountability within the Senate.
