Luzon: Luzon will continue to experience rains due to the prevailing 'habagat' or southwest monsoon, the weather bureau said Saturday. In its 4 a.m. bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the habagat will bring rains over Occidental Mindoro. Residents are warned of possible flash floods or landslides due to heavy to intense rains. According to Philippines News Agency, Metro Manila, Zambales, Bataan, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bulacan, Rizal, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Oriental Mindoro, and Antique will experience occasional rains due to the southwest monsoon. Flash floods or landslides due to moderate to heavy rains may occur in these areas, PAGASA warned. The southwest monsoon will likewise bring scattered rains and thunderstorms over the Ilocos Region, Bicol Region, the rest of Central Luzon, the rest of Calabarzon, the rest of Mimaropa, the rest of Western Visayas, Abra, Benguet, and Northern Samar. PAGASA said flash floods or landslides due to mode rate to at times heavy rains may be experienced in these areas. The rest of Luzon and the Visayas will have scattered rain showers or thunderstorms due to the habagat, while Mindanao will experience the same weather conditions due to localized thunderstorms. Light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas will be felt across the archipelago. Meanwhile, PAGASA continues to monitor a tropical cyclone outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). As of 3 a.m., the tropical depression was located 1,685 km east-northeast of extreme Northern Luzon, packing sustained winds of 55 kph and gustiness of 70 kph. It was moving northward at 35 kph.
