PRO-13 resolves 13 admin cases vs. cops in Q1 2022

Thirteen of 27 administrative cases filed against police officers in the Caraga Region from January to March this year have been resolved, a top police official said Wednesday.

Brig. Gen. Romeo Caramat Jr., Police Regional Office in the Caraga Region (PRO-13) director, said three were dismissed from the service, another three suspended, two reprimanded, one was restricted to specific limits, and four were exonerated.

“Our prompt resolution of administrative matters demonstrates that the cleansing program of the Philippine National Police in the region is in full swing,” Caramat said in a statement.

He said the remaining 14 cases are still being heard and some are scheduled for resolution.

Caramat said the 27 cases involved abuses ranging from grave neglect of duty, grave misconduct, conduct unbecoming of a police officer, lost firearm, violation of Executive Order No. 226 on command responsibility, and homicide.

Despite this, however, he noted a decrease of 23 cases against police personnel in the first quarter of the year compared to the 50 cases filed in the same period in 2021.
