Manila: The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) announced on Monday that it has identified a person of interest in connection with false reports circulating on social media. These reports incorrectly claimed that police personnel would be subject to a "one-week duty, two-weeks off" work schedule, with an eight-hour duty period.

According to Philippines News Agency, NCRPO officer-in-charge Brig. Gen. Christopher Abrahano stated that these rumors are "entirely false and do not reflect any officially implemented policy." He emphasized that such misinformation undermines the tireless efforts of police personnel who are dedicated to maintaining public safety and security.

In a chance interview at NCRPO headquarters in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City, Abrahano expressed disappointment over the spread of these false claims. He noted that the police force already follows existing regulations regarding shifts and duty hours, and a two-week off period is not feasible given the existing manpower constraints.

The NCRPO is actively pursuing leads on the source of this misinformation. Abrahano assured that once sufficient evidence is gathered, legal actions will be undertaken against the individual responsible for disseminating the fake news.

"Our investigators are working diligently to unravel the origins of this rumor," Abrahano said. He highlighted the importance of accountability, especially if the individual involved is a police officer, as they are expected to uphold a certain level of responsibility.

The police office reiterated that current programs and policies concerning personnel welfare and work arrangements are fully operational, with the leadership of Abrahano ensuring their proper implementation.
