Baguio City: The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth)-Cordillera is urging residents to enroll in the government’s health insurance program through the Konsulta Package (KP). Dr. Dominga Gadgad, PhilHealth-Cordillera’s regional vice president, emphasized the program’s goal of promoting proactive health management and wellness among the populace.

According to Philippines News Agency, Mountain Province Representative Maximo Dalog Jr. has encouraged PhilHealth to reach out to remote communities, facilitating resident registration and initial patient encounters (FPE). These encounters are designed to collect medical and family health histories, conduct physical examinations, and, if necessary, refer individuals for laboratory tests or further medical treatment.

Local Health Insurance Offices (LHIOs) across the Cordillera provinces are collaborating with various government agencies and local government units to promote KP registration. This initiative is accessible to PhilHealth members and their families, aligning with the Universal Health Care Law’s mission to provide all Filipinos with essential health services.

Gadgad highlighted that the program not only tracks individuals’ health conditions but also ensures continuous wellness, with basic maintenance medicines provided free of charge by PhilHealth if needed. The initiative aims to keep a record of residents’ health status, ensuring they receive necessary treatments promptly.

PhilHealth-Cordillera has reported an enrollment rate of approximately 95.2 percent, with 1,773,161 individuals registered out of the 1.8 million residents in the region. By the end of 2024, 850,359 people had registered for the KP, allowing them access to services from 104 KP providers across the provinces.

Additionally, PhilHealth has disbursed PHP1,039,786 to 1,464 individuals who utilized the FPE, which costs PHP1,700 annually per person.
