Manila: The Manila Cathedral in Intramuros will be the inaugural stop for the six-month-long Philippine pilgrimage featuring the replica image of Our Lady of Guadalupe, beginning on June 13.
According to Philippines News Agency, Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) President Archbishop Gilbert Garcera announced that the pilgrimage is scheduled to last until December 12. During this period, the revered image will travel to various cathedrals, shrines, and parish churches throughout the country. Additionally, it will be present at the CBCP 132nd Plenary Assembly, which will take place from July 3 to July 10, 2026. The pilgrimage aims to deepen the spiritual connection of Filipinos with Our Lord Jesus Christ and the Blessed Mother.
Manila Archbishop Cardinal Jose Advincula is set to preside over the opening Mass at 3 p.m., with the image open for veneration from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. The image will remain at the Manila Cathedral until June 18. During the pilgrimage, the Act of Consecration and Entrustment to Our Lady of Guadalupe will be recited during all Masses at the visited churches.
The historical significance of this event is underscored by the fact that Pope Pius XI declared Our Lady of Guadalupe as the "Celestial Patroness of the Philippines" on July 16, 1935. In addition, the CBCP named her the "Pro-Life Patroness of the Philippines" in 2002.
