Mapandan:Philippine authorities have arrested a police officer in Mapandan, Pangasinan, after seizing 812 grams of suspected shabu valued at over PHP5.5 million, along with firearms, during a recent operation.
According to Philippines News Agency, the operation was conducted by a joint team from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the Philippine National Police (PNP), who executed a search warrant issued by the Dagupan City Regional Trial Court. The warrant was for violations of Republic Act 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, at the suspect's residence in Barangay Aserdan, Mapandan, Pangasinan.
During the search, law enforcers found suspected shabu in knot-tied plastic bags and other drug paraphernalia at the officer's residence. Additionally, firearms of various calibers and ammunition were confiscated during the operation.
PDEA Ilocos regional director Julius Paderes stated that the successful operation highlights the agency's commitment to enforcing the law without distinction or exception. He emphasized that public servants who breach public trust by engaging in the illegal drug trade will be tracked, apprehended, and prosecuted. Neutralizing a supply source of shabu and confiscating illegal firearms are significant steps towards mitigating threats to the community in Pangasinan.
The suspect is currently in PDEA custody and is facing criminal charges.
