Umingan: The local government of this town has shut down the operations of DL Poultry Farm after it was discovered to be operating without permits. Mayor Chris Evert Tadeo-Leynes informed the public that the poultry farm, located in the village of Fulgosino, lacked building, sanitary, and business permits, and the required nets around its facilities were incomplete. Consequently, the farm’s 100,000 chickens have been removed from the area.
According to Philippines News Agency, the local government’s decision to close down the farm’s operation aims to ensure that only registered businesses are operating in the town. Mayor Tadeo-Leynes stated, “If they want to do business in Umingan, they should ensure that they will comply with all the necessary requirements set forth by the law and regulations. That’s why I ordered strict implementation of all ordinances pertaining to poultry and piggery.”
The strict enforcement of these regulations is intended to protect public health and the environment, as well as to maintain a level playing field for businesses. In 2023, a similar closure occurred when a poultry farm in the area was shut down due to complaints of housefly infestation.
Umingan town, located in the sixth district of Eastern Pangasinan, is a landlocked municipality with 58 villages.
