Pangasinan: Gov. Ramon Guico III has tasked the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) to closely coordinate with local government units (LGUs) and implement preemptive evacuation in coastal, flood-prone, and landslide-prone areas.
According to Philippines News Agency, residents in coastal municipalities and fisherfolk were advised to avoid setting sail due to anticipated high waves from Typhoon Uwan. The PDRRMO is actively monitoring the towns of San Fabian, Burgos, San Nicolas, Tayug, and Bugallon, with water search and rescue teams and equipment already prepositioned in these areas.
The Provincial Social Welfare Office has ensured sufficient food packs are available should LGUs require additional supplies in evacuation centers. In a proactive move, Gov. Guico has declared a suspension of classes across all levels in public and private schools, as well as a halt in government office operations, excluding frontline services, on November 10.
During a pre-disaster risk assessment meeting, the governor reviewed the readiness of rescue assets, including rubber boats, ambulances, and dump trucks, as well as the preparedness of trained rescue personnel. Meanwhile, the Lingayen municipal government will enforce a temporary ban on the sale, distribution, and consumption of alcoholic beverages in all public areas. Additionally, swimming, fishing, boating, and other water-related activities will be prohibited on Sunday and Monday.
Pangasinan was under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 as of the 11 a.m. advisory.
