Palace Declares April 5 as Special Non-Working Holiday in Pangasinan

Manila: Malaca±ang has declared April 5 a special non-working holiday in Pangasinan to mark the province’s 445th founding anniversary. The declaration was made through Proclamation No. 848, signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin by the authority of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., and issued on Wednesday.

According to Philippines News Agency, the proclamation stated, ‘It is but fitting and proper that the people of the Province of Pangasinan be given full opportunity to participate in the occasion and enjoy the celebration.’ Pangasinan first celebrated its founding anniversary on April 5, 2010. In August 2019, then-President Rodrigo Duterte signed Republic Act 11374, officially declaring April 5 of every year as “Pangasinan Day”, a special working holiday in the province to commemorate its founding.

Meanwhile, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) reminded that workers on duty during the special non-working holiday will receive an additional 30 percent of their daily wage for the first eight hours of work.
