One-Day Operation Leads to Arrest of 10 Wanted Individuals in Eastern Visayas

Tacloban: The Police Regional Office 8 (PRO-8) has successfully apprehended two of the most wanted individuals in the Eastern Visayas region, along with eight other wanted persons, during a coordinated one-day operation.

According to Philippines News Agency, the PRO-8 reported on Wednesday that one of the significant accomplishments on August 11 was the capture of a suspect known as alias “Roy,” aged 20, who was ranked as the third most wanted person in the province of Northern Samar. “Roy” was apprehended in Sta. Clara village in Bobon, Northern Samar, by a collaborative effort between the Bobon Municipal Police Station and the Provincial Intelligence Unit. His arrest was made possible through a court-issued warrant for charges of robbery and two counts of rape, with a recommended bail amounting to PHP72,000.

In another operation, the suspect alias “Mae,” aged 24, ranked as the fifth most wanted person in Leyte, was detained in Cogon village, Ormoc City. This arrest was executed by joint operatives from Police Station 1, the Ormoc City Police Office, the City Intelligence Unit, and the San Isidro Municipal Police Station. Mae faced a warrant of arrest for 46 counts of qualified theft, with a recommended bail set at PHP1.15 million.

Additionally, the Leyte Police Provincial Office reported the detention of six individuals wanted on various charges, including child abuse, illegal logging, cockfighting, and robbery. In Eastern Samar, law enforcement apprehended a suspect accused of the unauthorized taking and distribution of intimate images or videos, while in Tacloban City, the police detained a person wanted for qualified theft.

PRO-8 Director Brig. Gen. Jason Capoy praised the police units for their exceptional performance, emphasizing that the success of these operations underscores the diligence and coordination of the personnel involved. “The swift and well-coordinated actions of our team demonstrate our firm dedication to justice and the protection of our communities. These arrests send a strong message that offenders will be held accountable, regardless of the time it takes,” he stated.

All the arrested individuals are currently under police custody, awaiting appropriate legal proceedings.
